All About First Grade Assessments
We are continually assessing our students on a daily basis. However, we also do 2 assessments, 3 times a year. We have a Fall, Winter, and Spring assessment period. Following is an explanation of each of the tests.

Gates-MacGinitie:
The easiest way for me to describe this test is to compare it to ITBS, except for this is only reading. In the fall and winter we do the same exact test and I read every direction and they have to read some of the letters and words in the test. In the spring it’s a different test and the students have to read it all on their own after I give the directions. The goals are as follows:
Fall: 1.1 (First Grade, First Month)
Winter: 1.5 (First Grade, Fifth Month)
Spring: 1.9 (First Grade, Ninth Month)
